What Is LLB?

L.L.B. (Bachelor of Legislative Law or Legum Baccalaureus) is a degree course that will help aspirants gain professional knowledge to practice law as a career in India. It is basically a course to be done after Graduation. It is closely supervised and regulated by the Bar Council of India (BCI). Doing this course you are a licensed professional to legally defend yourself or any client in opinion of the Indian Judicial system and influence the legal proceedings.

The Students of LLB need to attend all the Theory classes, Moot Courts, internships and tutorials. These give the students an on field experience and makes them ready to practice as a Lawyer. The L.L.B. is offered in two formats: Integrated course and separate course. The Integrated course (also called 5 year LLB) demands an early selection, before enrolling into the first year of Graduation. For eg. B.A.L.L.B or B. Com. L.L.B. It is a five year course offered by most NLUs. The separate L.L.B. (also called 3 year LLB) course is of three years to be entered after the completion of 3 years of Graduation. Here you have the option to decide till you are a graduate but need to spend one year extra.

LLB eligibility:

1.    The applicant must have cleared 10 + 2 with minimum 55% aggregate marks. Some colleges do require at least 50 % aggregate marks. This is for the regular three year LLB course.

As per the Bar Council of India (BCI), these legal aid centres help all students take active part and learn the essence of Law and Ethics. Certain voluntary or spontaneous activities undertaken by the legal Aid centre law students gain knowledge about the status of said universities and colleges. Private universities are better equipped hence provide better facilities for the same.

Placement options

Placements are really dependent on how far you study the subject. Law colleges have good tie ups with reputed Companies and can give quite a good percentage of placement benefits to its students.
