This was an ODI match in March of 2009, India Vs New Zealand. Dhoni in the match performed with his bat as well as wicketkeeping skill. One of the best run-outs by Dhoni happened in this match. The batsman had tried to hit the ball out of the boundary but missed it. Instead, only the edge of his bat came in contact with the ball, and the ball was in the air.

Negi who was the batsman batting with Grandhomme hits the ball but it is caught by Dhoni. But the batsman makes a call for the run since Dhoni was standing at a further distance from the stumps. In the same match, the next ball was also a classic ball that leads to a run-out by Dhoni, who did not waste a single moment in hitting the stumps when he had the ball in his hand. Bravo has he bawled the ball, the batsman Negi hits it into the air and with one bounce it directly goes in the hands of the fielder. Negi and Sundar complete one run but Sundar runs for the second run. He is halfway down the crease when he notices the ball being sent in the opposite striker’s direction instead of non-stricker which was comparatively closer to the fielder. What made this run-out so special was the call that was made, during the second run. And it was led by Dhoni who helped in converting it into a dismissal.
