Both Android and IOS are mobile operating systems. They are widely used on smartphones all across the world today and have their foundation in UNIX operating systems. IOS is an operating system owned by Apple. 

While Android is used in phones and tablets, IOS is accepted in iPhones, iPads, iPods, etc. Android is open source and an offspring of Linux software. Both Android and IOS-based devices are easily available both offline and online today. They offer a range of affordable products with amazing features.

While Android is owned by Google LLC, IOS was created by Apple Inc.

  • Launch date

These smartphone operating systems were launched in the first decade of the 21st century. While IOS was launched in 2007, Android was introduced in 2008.

  • Target group

Android is targeted at smartphones and tablets from different companies.

IOS on the other hand is used in smartphones, music systems, computers, etc.

  • License

While Android has the preferred licenses of Apache 2.0 and GNU GPLv2, the case with IOS is different. Their preferred licenses are APSL, GNU GPL, and Proprietary.

  • Popularity

Android systems are most commonly used all over the globe. The IOS radar, on the other hand, is exclusively focused on iPhone devices.

  • Application development

Android, Kotlin, Java, etc. help in application development. However, this is not the case with IOS. IOS uses Swift for application development.

  • Voice assistant

Android has Google assistance, whereas IOS has Siri.

Android is considered to have a longer and more efficient battery life than IOS devices. 

Advantages and disadvantages of android and IOS

  • Android

Advantages:

– Android systems are more affordable than IOS devices. They are cheaper and therefore within the purchasing capacity of the majority of people.

– A wider range of mobile phone options is available on Android. While IOS setup is available only for iPhones and related devices.

– It is more open and flexible. It allows for easier file transfers.

Disadvantages:

– Some security concerns do arise in the case of Android. This is because fake apps or those containing viruses also get downloaded easily.

– Battery life is also not very long. It gets drained very quickly.

– Another issue is the rampant popping up of advertisements, on almost every app that one opens.

In the case of Android devices, the issue of a hanging device also occurs frequently.

– The camera quality is less impressive on Android devices in comparison to IOS.

  • IOS

Advantages:

This setup is considered to be more technologically advanced than the Android setup. It is more innovative, launching the latest features and updates on the market from time to time.

IOS offers superior security for its users. It does not allow viruses to enter the system and gives alerts from time to time.

– Battery life is also acceptable.

– The overall sleek and polished appearance of IOS devices is also amazing.

Disadvantages:

– IOS devices can prove to be very expensive compared to Android.

The file transfer process is not as simple as it is on Android.

– Costs of repair can be very high.

– Not much flexibility. It is only compatible with IOS devices.

How to successfully choose between the android and IOS

One needs to get a basic understanding of both operating systems before deciding which one to buy. An overall picture of the looks, availability, and affordability of the product is an extremely crucial step before taking the final decision. You need to decide whether you want more security in IOS or easy downloading and sharing in Android.

You can also focus on the details with the camera on the iPhone. Its overall picture quality is better than many Android phones. Screen size and phone color options can also be researched well before deciding on one. It is very crucial that the phone’s design and overall appearance are appealing. Buying a phone based on all these factors will ensure that one does not regret their decision later.

Since there are innumerable phone models available today, it becomes a bit hectic to scroll through the details of all of them. To make the decision easier, one can make a list of phones that stand out more than the rest. Once they have time, they can cut down on the insignificant ones. Finally, this method allows the person to pick one device of their choice. The audio quality of the Android or IOS device also needs to be checked well before buying.
